Lesson FAQs

How many students are in a lesson?

All of my lessons are 1 to 1 so that I can focus on helping each student acheive thier learning goals as fast and effectively as possible.

Can I cancel a lesson?

Yes. But, lessons need to cancelled 24 hours in advance. If a lesson is cancelled less than 24 hours before the start of the lesson, you will lose that lesson time from your package.

How long are lessons?

All lessons are 1 hour (60 Minutes) long.

What happens if I am late for a lesson?

If you think that you are going to be late for a lesson, you should try to notify me about it if posssible. If you are late for a lesson, your lesson time will have to be cut short.

How do I schedule lessons?

After you have bought a lesson package with me, you will receive a confirmation email with a special code. If you click on that code, you will be taken to my scheduling page where you can schedule all of your lessons in advance.

How can I review lesson summmaries and complete my homework?

You will be given access to your own online classroom that you can enter at any time. In this classroom, you will be able to review all of your previous lessons and complete any homework assignments.

How do I join a lesson?

I will message you (on Skype or Zoom) 2 minutes before the start of a lesson to ask if you are ready. You should then log in to your Online Classroom and click on 'Join Lesson'. You will then see your lesson on screen in real-time.

Do you use a webcam in your lessons?

I use a webcam in the trial lesson, but I like to keep most lessons audio based, so that students can focus on the lesson content rather than a webcam video. It is possible to use a webcam though, if you prefer.

How do you teach lessons?

I generally use video conferencing software (such as Skype or Zoom) to talk to students and an online ESL teaching platform that enables me to teach a vast library of lessons in a real-time online classroom. Although other methods may be used depending on a students goals.


Prices And Payments FAQs

Is your website secure for making payments?

Yes. This website is hosted on Squarespace which uses SSL technology which secures the connection between your browser and the website. This means that all payments can be made securely, and any data that is shared is kept safe.

How can I pay for lessons?

Lessons can be paid for securely using a Paypal account or a credit card (Visa, Mastercard) through Stripe.

How much do your lessons cost?

Technical FAQs

Can I take a lesson using a tablet or a phone?

Yes. All of my lessons are hosted on tablet and phone friendly applications. You will be able to take a lesson on your phone, but you will not be able to see my webcam video. Many of my students have studied this way with me before.

Can I take lessons using a Linux computer?

Yes. All of my lessons are hosted on applications that work with the Linux operating system.

How fast does my Internet connection need to be?

You must have a reliable broadband connection. When we meet for a demo we can test your connection. If your connection is not fast enough to use Skype, it will not be possible for you to have lessons. I recommend that you have at least 2 Mbps of broadband speed if you wish to take lessons with me.

What happens if we have a connection problem during a lesson?

If we have an issue with Skype or a connection problem then I will try to fix things as fast as possible if the problem is on my side. However, this is extremely rare. If the problem is on your side then I will contact you by email to find out if it can be fixed, so that we can reconnect as fast as possible.
